Today in a stealth drop Nintendo posted a video announcing a new Hyrule Warriors title. Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is a prequel to the smash-hit Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The game takes place 100 years before the events of Breath of the Wild, and will show the great calamity that took place at that time.
Game Producer Yosuke Hayashi stated that Nintendo’s Zelda Team worked very closely with KOEI Temco, overseeing the graphics, game play, and all the dialogue and story elements. This further solidifies the game as a prequel within the established canon of the Legend of Zelda series.
The gameplay clips in the trailer confirm that Link, Princess Zelda, and the Four Champions: Mipha of the Zora, Daruk of the Gorons, Urbosa of the Gerudo, and Revali of the Rito, will all be playable in the game. Being a Warriors game, it is likely that there will be more playable characters to come.
During the presentation Eiji Aonuma revealed that the Sequel to Breath of the Wild is still in development and that fans will have to wait a little longer for more news on the game.
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity will release on November 20th, 2020 for Nintendo Switch.
