Today The Nintendo and the Pokemon Company released a Pokemon Direct event revealing more information on the Crown Tundra DLC that is coming to Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield.
In this game mode players will team up with 3 other trainers and explore Pokémon dens where they will battle in Max Raid Battles and capture Dynamax Pokémon. In this mode the players will select rental Pokémon, and use them during the adventure. When players complete a Max Raid Battle one of the trainers will have an opportunity to swap out their current Pokémon for the one just captured. If the team loses a Max Raid Battle they will be swept our of the den and have to start the adventure over.
Legendary Pokémon Return
Trainers can encounter all of the legendary Pokémon from previous games in the Crown Tundra DLC. As players adventure through the DLC they will encounter the legendary Pokémon from all of the previous games. Some of these Pokémon will be exclusive to the Sword Version and some will be exclusive to Shield Version.
New Pokemon and Regional Variants
Galarian Slowking: Poison/Psychic
Ability: Curious Medicine
Galarian Slowking has powerful psychic and poison attacks that can turn the tides of battle. It has the new ability Curious Medicine which eliminates all of an allies stat changes when Galarian Slowking enters the battle. It also has the new attack Eerie Spell, which deals Psychic damage and will lower the PP of last move the opponent used.
Galarian Articuno, Moltres, and Zapdos
Regidrago and Regieleki
Players that transfer Pokémon from Pokémon Go to Sword and Shield using Pokémon Home will be able to get a special Melmetal that is capable of Gigantamaxing.
Galarian Star Tournament
After completing the main story of Crown Tundrea, the player will be able to compete in the Galarian Star Tournament. A competition players team form teams with and battle against the Galarian gym leaders, rivals, and the champion, Leon. The tournament is in multi-battle format where trainers form teams of two and each trainer sends out one Pokémon to battle. There will be changing dialogue from the trainers depending on the pair-ups that will reveal more about these characters.
New Physical Releases Including the Expansion Pass
On November 6th, a new physical release of Pokémon Sword Version and Pokémon Shield Version that includes all of the expansion pass content will be released.
Pokémon Go to Pokémon Home Transfer
Before the end of the year an update is coming to Pokémon Go and Pokémon Home that will allow players to send Pokémon from Pokémon Go to Pokémon Home and from there they can be transferred to Pokémon Sword and Shield. When Players send Pokémon from Pokémon Go to Pokémon Home the Mystery Box in Pokemon Go will open causing Meltan to spawn in Pokémon Go for a short period of time.
More returning Pokemon will be coming with the Crown Tundra, among them are Gible, Elekid, and Spheal.
The Crown Tundra DLC releases on October 22nd
