In an announcement today Nintendo and The Pokémon Company revealed the release dates for the much-anticipated upcoming Pokémon games.
Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl are set to release on November 19, 2021. A double-pack featuring both games will released that same day.
Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl are remakes of the Nintendo DS hits Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl. In the games players will choose a starter Pokémon from among Turtwig, Chimchar and Piplup and adventure through the beautiful and vast Sinnoh region on a quest to become the champion of the Sinnoh Pokémon League.
Pokémon Legends Arceus is set to release next year on January 28, 2022.
This game is set in an ancient Sinnoh region long before the setting of Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. In this game players will choose a starter from among Rowlet, Cyndaquil, and Oshawot, these Pokémon were brought to Sinnoh by a professor that has explored various other regions. The player will go on a quest through ancient Sinnoh to discover a mystery connected to Arceus. This game is developed by Game Freak and represents a departure in the series as with a focus on more action-RPG elements.
According to the listings for the games posted on the Japanese Nintendo website, Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl will feature multiplayer for up to 4-players. This suggests that Legends Arceus will not have any multiplayer features, a first for a Game Freak-developed Pokémon game. Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl having up to 4 player multiplayer hints that this title will have the suite of multiplayer and online features that are typical of main series Pokémon games meaning these games will likely become the format for the competitive VGC format in 2022.
The pre-orders for these games have gone live on the Nintendo Website and at various retailers.
